Adam Nerio enters his fourth season as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at St. Mary’s University in 2022.

Nerio helped new head coach Kevin Driggs lead the Rattlers to their first postseason appearance since 2016 with a spot in the 2020 Lone Star Conference Quarterfinals, where they fell to 10th-ranked Angelo State, 1-0. The coaches adjusted to a shortened spring season during the pandemic and sported a .500 regular season record. Nerio also briefly served as the interim head coach after his first season, prior to Driggs' hire. 

During the 2021 season, the Rattlers improved upon their record going 9-7-2 and reached the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Tournament for the second-straight year. Nerio worked with the goalkeepers, ending with Cameron Koerner earning All-Conference in 2020 and Rebecca Difronzo in 2021.

Nerio came to St. Mary’s after spending one season as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas under Head Coach Casey Collins. Before entering the college coaching ranks at Schreiner, Nerio spent two years coaching with the New York Red Bulls Youth Training Programs in Westchester, New York. There, Nerio trained high-level travel teams ranging from U9-U17 boys and girls while also serving as lead trainer for his Region in Westchester, New York. 

Before leaving for New York, Nerio was the Head Girls' Soccer Coach and Physical Education Teacher at Robert E. Lee High School in North East ISD in San Antonio from 2014-2016. In his first season at Lee, Nerio led the girls' varsity team to an overall 13-6-2 record after inheriting an overall record of 8-11-2 from the previous season. While at Lee, Nerio also helped produce three student-athletes to the First and Second All-District Team. In addition, Nerio coached within the Classics Elite Soccer Academy in San Antonio for the U10 boys' and girls' teams.

A native of San Antonio, Nerio graduated from Ronald Reagan High School where he played soccer and ran both track and cross-country. Nerio was also a player within the Classics Elite Soccer Academy. Nerio earned an NCAA DI athletic scholarship for cross-country at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana, while also playing for the men’s soccer team.  Majoring in health and exercise science and graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Centenary, Nerio recently concluded his master's in public history at St. Mary’s University.

Nerio currently resides in San Antonio and holds both a USSF coaching license and a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping diploma.
