A standout collegiate golfer in her own right, Johany Rivera begins her second year as the graduate assistant coach of the St. Mary’s Men and Women’s Golf programs in 2019-20.
In her first year as a coach, Rivera helped the Rattlers earn NCAA Regional bids, assisting Thomas Kearney in all aspects of the program.
As a golfer at St. Edward’s Rivera earned All-Heartland First-Team honors three of her four seasons and won seven tournaments throughout her career. As a senior, she tied for fifth place at the Heartland Conference Championship and 56th at the NCAA West Regional. She even won the Rattler Invitational after shooting a two-round total of 144. As a junior, she was named to the WCGA All-Region and honorable mention All-American teams and as a freshman she won the Heartland Conference title after shooting a season-best round of 69.
She prepped at Smithson Valley High School in Spring Branch, Texas and was named to the San Antonio all-area team in her final two years.
