Liz Boyd

The 2024-25 season begins Liz Boyd's eighth on the sidelines for the St. Mary's alumnae as the team looks to make steps in the right direction during the staff's third season together. Boyd returned to her alma mater in 2017-18 after playing for the Rattlers from 2009-13.

As a student-athlete, Boyd helped the Rattlers win the Heartland Conference regular season as a freshman and the Tournament title as a senior, with NCAA Regional appearances both years. She was named the league's Freshman of the Year in 2009-10 and she was a three-time selection on the President's Honor Roll. She is one of only three Rattlers ever to play more than 1,000 minutes in a season, playing 1,018 in her final campaign, and she's tied for third on the career list with 114 games played. She also ranks 10th in three-point field goal percentage for her career, sinking 34.4 percent of her shots (84-244).

As a coach, Boyd has helped the team transition to the extremely tough Lone Star Conference, where the team advanced to the conference tournament each of its first two years. In 2019-2020, the team won its opening round game against Cameron before losing in the quarterfinals to 10th-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce. In 2020-21, the Rattlers won five of their final seven regular-season games to secure a spot in the LSC Tournament, where they lost to eventual national champion Lubbock Christian, in the first round.
