One of the most prolific hitters in Texas A&M Kingsville history, Kayla Gonzales turns her attention to coaching for the 2025 season, becoming an assistant coach at St. Mary's.
Gonzales started all 205 games she played for the Javelinas (2021-2024), blasting 56 doubles, two triples and 40 home runs in her 231 hits. She recorded 197 RBIs, walking 65 times and getting hit by a pitch 29 times with only 50 strikeouts in her standout career. She was a four-time Lone Star All-Conference selection, earning First-Team honors as both a junior and senior. She broke the school single-season record for RBI in 2022 with 61 and tied the TAMUK mark with 14 home runs that year.
Gonzales returns to her home city of San Antonio to begin her coaching career. She graduated from East Central High School in 2020, helping the Hornets to a pair of second-place district finishes in 2016 and 2017.
