Rafael Arlex Castillo joined the Rattlers' coaching staff in August of 2021 as an Assistant Coach. Castillo is a native of Columbia and a former star for the Columbian National Football Team and the San Antonio Scorpions (2014-2015). During his time with the Scorpions, Castillo led the team to the 2014 NASL Championship. After being brought in during the middle of the season, Castillo quickly became a prominent feature of the San Antonio offense and led the team in goals scored. Rafael also later played for San Antonio FC after signing with them in 2016.
Castillo's career is a decorated one, spanning 23 years of professional soccer. Castillo scored over 50 goals during his career and was the MVP of the Soccer Bowl in 2014 after executing a sensational bicycle kick.Â
