David Ormiston returns for his second year as Assistant Coach and Director of Goalkeeping for St Mary’s Men’s Soccer in 2022. Ormiston helped lead the Rattlers to a 13-7 record during the 2021 season and a top 25 ranking in NCAA Division II.
Ormiston was also Assistant Coach and a part of the youngest ever USL 2 coaching staff at the Brazos Valley Cavalry FC during the USL 2 2022 season. The Cavalry won the USL 2 Lonestar Conference Championship and returned to the USL 2 playoffs for the third time in five years whilst being the youngest Assistant Coach in the competition’s history. Brazos Valley Cavalry FC also enjoyed its winningest season in the club's history with a record of 11-2-1.
Ormiston, a native of Chichester, West Sussex, England, comes to St. Mary's after finishing his collegiate career at NCAA Division II school, Eckerd College, of the Sunshine State Conference. During his time with the Tritons, Ormiston played and started in 18 games, finishing with a 72.1% save percentage. After finishing his collegiate career, Ormiston spent time coaching at his alma mater Eckerd College as an Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Coach.
Prior to playing at Eckerd College, Ormiston was also a two-year starter in goal for Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York. While at Genesee, Ormiston allowed an average of just 0.76 goals per match. He was named a WNYAC First Team All-Conference selection, as well as earning NJCAA and United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors. He also earned several National Player of the Week accolades during his time at Genesee. Ormiston helped steer Genesee CC to two NJCAA Regional Championships as well as their first ever NJCAA National Championship in 2017. During the 2017 season, Ormiston was named MVP of both the NJCAA Regional and National Championship. He was named to the Genesee Community College “Men’s Soccer Team of the Decade” in 2020.
Ormiston obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Eckerd College in 2021, and will be completing his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from St Mary’s at the end of 2022.
