Moving from the court to the sidelines for the 2018-19 season, Robby Benavides serves as the volunteer assistant coach for the Men’s Basketball program at St. Mary’s after a successful career as the team’s point guard.
In five seasons with the Rattlers, Benavides played in 79 games, starting in 42 and had a better than 2.3:1 assist:turnover ratio as well as averaging over a steal per game. The San Antonio native also shot 77.2 percent from the free throw line throughout his career, including an 86.4 mark in his senior campaign.
Benavides graduated from St. Mary’s with a bachelor’s degree in sport & exercise science and his younger brother Tim is currently a member of the Rattlers’ team.
