David Lewis joins St. Mary’s as the Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach for the 2023-24 season.
Lewis is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference and the work it takes to succeed in the difficult league. He spent the 2022-23 season at Texas A&M International after spending the previous seven years at Angelo State.
At both institutions, Lewis not only coached the team, but also assisted as the academic coordinator with the team, helping student-athletes stay on task in the classroom and make informed decisions on degree progress.
Prior to joining the Lone Star Conference, Lewis spent two seasons in the NBA, working with both scouting, operations and video with Orlando and San Antonio's affiliate in Austin.
Lewis earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a bachelor's in pure mathematics in 2011 and his master's in physical education teacher education in 2014.
He and his wife, Elizabeth, have recently relocated to San Antonio with their two sons, Luke and Micah.
