Heartland Conference All-Tournament Team (2014)

2015 (Redshirt Junior): Continued as the Rattlers’ main catcher, starting 35 of his 47 games played, recording 227 putouts, the second-most on the team, with 27 assists and five errors for a .981 fielding percentage … Batted .268 on the season with five doubles for 11 RBIs … Scored 16 runs and totaled 35 bases, recording a .313 slugging percentage and .294 on-base percentage … Logged two sacrifice flies and five sacrifice hits … Turned two double plays on the season and caught a team-high 10 runners trying to steal … Went 4 for 5 against Central Baptist (2/26) with two RBIs and one double … Had eight multiple-hit games during the season including going 2 for 3 against Colorado-State-Pueblo at the South Central Region Tournament. 

2014 (Redshirt Sophomore): Quickly became the Rattlers’ primary catcher, playing in all but one game of the 55-game season with 50 starts … Batted .265 at the plate with 26 RBIs and 16 runs scored … Recorded six doubles and hit his first collegiate home run against UAFS (3/14) … Picked up two sac flies and seven sacrifice hits … Had the best fielding percentage on the team at .982 with a team-high 338 putouts, 37 assists and seven errors … Sparked in the Heartland Conference Championship Tournament, hitting .462 (6-13) to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team. 

2013 (Redshirt Freshman): Played in 17 games with 12 starts in his first active season … Was strong behind the plate with 64 putouts, six assists and two errors … Threw out two opponents trying to steal … Batted .279 with two doubles and six runs scored … Recorded six RBIs on the season, four of which came against Colorado State Pueblo in the South Central Region Tournament.  

2012 (Freshman): Redshirt season.

High School: Achieved baseball letterman status for head coach Chans Chapman.

Personal: Parents are Keith and Lucy Funk ... Has two sisters, Cheryl and Christi ... Three relatives, John C., Tim and Scott Funk all played college sports ... Majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry.
