Ryan Femath

Ryan Femath is entering his 13th year as the assistant coach for Rattler baseball program after wrapping up his playing career with St. Mary’s.

As St. Mary's hitting coach, Femath and his Rattlers led the Heartland Conference in on-base percentage and bases on balls, and ranked second in slugging percentage. The Rattlers also ranked No. 3 in the league in each of the following categories: batting average, home runs, runs scored, hits, doubles and RBI. 

Two years ago, Femath's Rattlers led the Heartland Conference in hits (558), and ranked No. 3 in doubles, No. 3 in runs scored and No. 3 in stolen bases. St. Mary's racked up three conference Hitter of the Week awards along the way en route to advancing to the South Central Region championship game as the Heartland Conference champion.

As a player in 2007, he helped the Rattlers to 36 wins and a third place finish in the Heartland Conference standings.

Femath, a native of El Paso, played two years for the Rattlers after transferring from Howard College. In his two years shortstop, Femath played in 99 games, including 90 starts, hitting .326 with 14 doubles, 11 homeruns, 59 RBI and 88 runs scored.

In his first season with St. Mary's, Femath earned All-Heartland Conference honors after hitting .335 with 6 doubles, 9 home runs, 39 RBI and 61 runs scored. He was named Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week twice.

As the assistant coach, Femath has obtained a 416-192 overall record with Coach Migl and won 6 conference championships during this span. He has coached 71 total All-Conference selections with 40 ,1st team and 31, 2nd team recipients. Additionally during his tenure, he has helped to coach 16 rattler student-athletes into professional baseball leagues.  

Prior to his time in San Antonio he was an All-Conference performer at Howard College. He graduated from Montwood High School in El Paso, earning All-State honors. He graduated from St. Mary's with his bachelor's degree in exercise and sport science in December of 2008 and completed his masters in educational leadership in 2012.
