2013 (Senior): Finished his career as a continued dominant arm and one of the program’s most decorated pitchers, earning selections on two All-America Second Teams to become only the fourth player in the program’s history to reach All-American status in repeated seasons … Was also an academic All-American … Named South Central Region Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season and was selected Daktronics All-Region First Team … Earned the NCBWA South Central Region Pitcher of the Week award after tying the documented NCAA Division II record for most consecutive wins with 21, dating back to his sophomore season … Finished with a team-best 1.97 ERA in his final season in 96 innings, placing him fourth for career ERA at 2.46 (340.1 innings) … Went 13-2 on the season, tying for third in the nation, to finish second for career wins with a record of 39-6 over his four seasons … Recorded five complete games during the season for a seventh place rank for most complete games with 18 … Tallied 62 strikeouts to bring his career total to 284 for fifth place in the Record Books … Earned two Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week awards to become the league’s Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season and an All-Conference First Team selection for the third straight season … Started 16 games to lead the record for most career starts with 55 … Had an opponent batting average of .200, the second-best on the team, with 21 earned runs … Had one solo shutout and had a hand in four more.
2012 (Junior): Shined as the Rattlers’ No.1 pitcher to become one of the best in the conference, region and nation, winning a slew of honors including St. Mary’s first-ever Daktronics National Pitcher of the Year award … Also claimed Pitcher of the Year from the Heartland Conference and the ABCA Regional Pitcher of the Year … His perfect 14-0 win-loss record earned him the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-American First Team selection, as well as the NCBWA All-America First Team selection, the Daktronics All-America First Team selection and an All-Heartland Conference First Team selection … On the regional level, O'Neal earned ABCA Region First Team selection, the ABCA Regional Pitcher of the Year, Daktronics All-South Central Region First Team, Daktronics All-South Region Pitcher of the Year, NCBWA All-Central Regional First Team and NCBWA Regional Pitcher of the Year ... The ace’s numerously awarded season kept him planted throughout St. Mary’s record books as he is second in most wins in a single season with 14, fifth for most games started with 16 and third in most shutouts with five … In career records, he is 10th in both innings pitched and strikeouts with 244.1 and 222 respectively, eighth in most games started with 39, fourth in most wins with 26 and sixth in lowest opponent batting average at .213 … Claimed St. Mary’s only win the Division-II National Championship tournament over Indianapolis University … Named the Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week three times throughout the season … Boosted a below 0.50 ERA for much of the season and ended with a 2.18 with 17 appearances with 16 starts … Tossed a team-high five shutouts and seven complete games … Sliced 101 strikeouts in 103 innings pitched and kept his opponents to a team-low .188 batting average, allowing zero homeruns and zero triples on the season.
2011 (Sophomore): Showed his experience gained in his freshman year, becoming one of the Rattlers' top pitchers with a 2.70 ERA ... Was the starting pitcher in all of his 15 apperances that included seven wins ... Struck out 77 batters with a fast arm, the second highest on the team ... Pitched 93.1 innings, again the second most for the team, facing 328 batters with only 28 earned runs.
2010 (Freshman): Went 5-1 over 10 games, including eight starts. ... Had a 3.56 ERA over 48.0 innings pitched in his first season as a Rattler. ... Struck out 44 batters while walking only 28.
High School: Standout for coach Aldo Velazquez baseball squad the last four years. ... Was named first team all-district for his play. ... Off the field he earned the Principle's Award for his work in the classroom.
