WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The St. Mary's University Volleyball team buckled down late in the final two sets after being tied at 21-21 to win 25-23 in each for the four-set victory at Midwestern State University on Saturday afternoon, 25-15, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23.
 
Freshman Madyson Carr (Houston) had a career-best eight blocks on the afternoon, tying for the fourth-most in a four-set match in school history, and bettering her career high of seven from the five-set match against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Sept. 5. 
 
The Rattlers (9-5, 2-2) had a balanced attack as each of the three pin hitters recorded double figures in kills, and the other three each collected four kills. Graduate student Laurene Robinson (Bedford, Texas) led the match with 19 kills and hit a match-best .405 (19-2-42), while adding 11 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Junior Taylor Alston (San Antonio) had 15 kills and sophomore Tara Creekmore (Canton, Mich.) chipped in 10.
 
Junior libero Kaylee Cavazos led the team with 12 digs and senior setter Haleigh Wilk (Salado, Texas) had a match-high four aces, 46 assists, four kills and eight digs. Senior middle blocker Olivia Rubio (San Antonio) and Carr were the other two with four kills.
 
Midwestern State (6-8, 2-2) was led in kills by Isabella Dickens with 13, while Remi Madison had 14 digs, Macy Scheer posted 23 assists and both TaNia Penn and Jaiden Wright had four blocks. The Rattlers picked on Madison in the serving game, as she had 35 of the team's 76 receptions in the match.
 
St. Mary's has a busy week ahead, playing at UT Dallas on Wednesday before hosting Texas A&M International on Friday and a rematch with Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday afternoon.
