Men's Soccer Falters Against No. 18 UCCS

SAN ANTONIO — Playing down two men the entire second half and the final 10 minutes of the first half, the St. Mary's University Men's Soccer team contained the No. 18 University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions to three goals in a 3-0 loss at Sigma Beta Chi Field on Saturday evening.
 
The Rattlers were whistled for a pair of red cards, and the two teams combined to receive nine cautions in a physical contest. There were also 18 total fouls called, with 11 of the 18 coming in the first half.
 
The Mountain Lions (2-0) outshot the Rattlers (0-2) 19-to-11, however, the Rattlers took seven in the second period, and three were on target. The five shots on goal in the contest were all by different players for StMU, while both sophomores Ryan Guillaume (Trelex, Vaud, Switzerland) and Dyllan Mendoza (San Antonio) each took two shots.
 
Freshman Nichita Misac (Lisbon, Portugal) made six saves, while sophomore Fabian Enriquez (Longview, Texas) made a fantastic diving save in a one-on-one situation in his 13 minutes of play.
 
St. Mary's remains at home, hosting Texas A&M-San Antonio on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. and Sul Ross State in a non-conference tilt on Sept. 9, at 7 p.m.
