GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — The run for the No. 22 St. Mary's University Baseball team came to an end at the hands of the No. 1 team in the nation, Colorado Mesa, on Saturday, 15-5 in the final game of the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament.
Four of the Rattlers' (39-19) five runs came via the long ball, as senior
Jacob King (San Antonio), senior
Raithen Malone (Mont Belvieu, Texas), and sophomore Drew Diaz de Leon (Cibolo, Texas) each hit a home run, with King's and Diaz de Leon's both being solo shots.

Rob Gonzalez (San Antonio) had multi-hit days, with Malone going 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Gonzalez going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Sophomore
Derek Maples (San Antonio) dropped to 4-4 on the year after pitching 1 2/3 innings. He gave up seven runs on six hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Senior
Edward Mendoza (Eagle Pass, Texas) threw a season-high 56 pitches, allowing five runs on seven hits with one walk and two strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.

Braeden Brown (Sinton, Texas) pitched a 1-2-3 fifth, while senior
Brody Ticer (San Antonio) didn't allow a hit in the sixth inning. Senior
Daniel Vogt (Ava, Ill.) gave up three runs on three hits in the seventh, sophomore
Christian Molinar (San Antonio) gave up a hit and a walk in the eighth and sophomore
Ryan Perez (San Antonio) gave up two hits and a walk in the ninth.
The collegiate careers come to an end for

The Mavericks advance to the Super Regionals, where they will host either Angelo State or UT Tyler next weekend, while the Rattlers' season ends with a 39-19 record. It is the most wins for an StMU team since 2015.
