Four from Women's Basketball Named All-Conference

3/4/2026 7:17:00 PM

FRISCO, Texas — As they prepare for the first Lone Star Conference Tournament since 2019-20, the St. Mary's University Women's Basketball team had several student-athletes honored on the All-Conference, All-Academic and All-Defensive teams announced on Wednesday evening at the pre-championship banquet.

Four of the five Rattlers starters were honored in a vote by the league's head coaches, as sophomore forward Christin Callens (Houston) and junior guard Allie Garcia (Adelaide, South Australia) were both named to the Third Team, while senior guard Quezia Bertoni (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and sophomore forward Raynne Malik (London, Ontario) were both honorable mentions.

Malik was also named to both the All-Academic and All-Defensive teams. Malik is the only sophomore appearing on either team. She leads the league and ranks 10th in the nation with 2.23 blocked shots per game and ranks fifth in the Lone Star with 7.7 rebounds per contest.

Garcia leads the team in scoring with 10.5 points per game and has made at least one three-pointer in 21 straight games, while Callens is right behind her with 10.3 points per game and has grabbed multiple rebounds in 14 consecutive contests. Bertoni paces the club with 2.6 assists per game and is shooting .491 from the field and .881 from the free throw line.

The four All-Conference honorees are the most for St. Mary's since joining the Lone Star Conference. In 2019-20, the team had two honored on one of the four teams, while in the last five years, the team has had only one selected.

Gabby Elliott, a senior from Texas Woman's, was named both the Player and Defensive Player of the Year, while Lubbock Christian's Meg Meekins was named the Freshman of the Year and Chloe Dallas from Eastern New Mexico was tabbed the Newcomer of the Year. Mariah Neal from UT Tyler was named the Sixth Woman of the Year and TWU's Beth Jillson earned Coach of the Year honors.

The Rattlers begin their run at the LSC Tournament title on Friday at 2:30 p.m. against West Texas A&M.
