No. 9 Men's Golf is Tied for 12th With One Round Remaining

BOULDER CITY, Nev. — The field started to separate during round two of the Las Vegas Desert Classic, and the No. 9 St. Mary's University Men's Golf team sits in a tie for 12th place with one round remaining.
 
The Rattlers shot nine over par as a team in the second round, falling five spots on the team leaderboard. They enter the final round tied with DBU. Lincoln Memorial leads the field with an 11-under after shooting -14 for the day.
 
Junior Connor Smith (The Hills, Texas) made the biggest move for the Rattlers, shooting a two-over 74 to jump 12 spots in the standings. Smith birdied three of the final four holes on the back nine, and he is now +8 for the tournament (78, 74).
 
Sophomore Elijah Galvan (Austin, Texas) and senior Baptiste Touchard (Saint-Agathon, France) also turned in rounds of 74 on Monday. Galvan is 23rd overall with a two-day total of 146 (72, 74), while Touchard is tied for 40th with a 148 (74, 74). 
 
Touchard is tied with teammate Guillaume Paquette (La Minerve, Quebec), who turned in a 75 on Monday and has 148 strokes for the tournament (73, 75). Senior Philip Hallström (Gävle, Sweden) posted a round of 80 on Monday and is +11 for the tournament (75, 80).
 
Edward Mason from Lincoln Memorial stands atop the individual leaderboard at -10. He shot a tournament low 65 in the second round to build his lead to three strokes over Max Barile from Florida Southern. There are currently 15 individuals in the 108-player field who are under par, and two more sit at even through two rounds.
 
St. Mary's will take to the links on Tuesday, paired with golfers from a trio of California schools in Cal State East Bay, Cal State Monterey Bay and CSU San Bernardino.
