BOULDER CITY, Nev. – After the first round of the Las Vegas Desert Classic, there are only 17 strokes separating all 20 teams, with the No. 9 St. Mary's University Men's Golf team sitting in a tie for seventh place.
The Rattlers are knotted with West Texas A&M, and are five shots off the lead, currently held by No. 5 Florida Southern.

Elijah Galvan (Austin, Texas) is tied for 13th place after shooting an even par 72, as the Rattlers are also tightly bunched after the first round, with six strokes separating the five. Galvan tallied two birdies and two bogeys on Sunday.

Guillaume Paquette (La Minerve, Quebec) collected three birdies and four bogeys to enter the clubhouse one over par, 73, while senior
Baptiste Touchard (Saint-Agathon, France) is two over, senior Philip Hallström (Gävle, Sweden) is three over, and junior
Connor Smith (The Hills, Texas) is six over.
Luis Palomo from West Texas A&M sits atop the individual leaderboard after firing a 67 in the opening round. He is one of 12 players who shot under par on day one of the annual tournament at the Boulder Creek Golf Course.
On Monday, the Rattlers will golf with the Buffaloes, North Georgia and Missouri-St. Louis. The foursomes will begin on holes 4-6. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start.
