TYLER, Texas – The St. Mary's University Volleyball team was swept for only the second time this season, and both have come at the hands of Patriots, as UT Tyler won Tuesday night 25-12, 25-15, 25-16.
The Rattlers (10-11, 3-8) struggled to find any kind of rhythm on offense, hitting a season-low .080 for the match. The Patriots (17-4, 8-3) put up a solid block, getting 12, and were in system the vast majority of the match, hitting .456 against the Rattlers.
Freshman middle blocker
Madyson Carr (Houston) continued to shine for StMU, getting seven kills and hitting .235, while graduate student
Laurene Robinson (Bedford, Texas) led the team with eight kills, though she hit only .042 as the Patriots keyed on her all evening.
Senior
Haleigh Wilk (Salado, Texas) led the team with two aces and seven digs, and senior
Olivia Rubio (San Antonio) and Robinson teamed up for the team's only block in the match.
With a busy week on tap, the Rattlers will have little time to reflect on the night, as they host Cameron on Friday at 6 p.m. for Pink Out Night, and a UPC Punch Card Game for students, and Oklahoma Christian on Saturday at 2 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the men's soccer team.
