Men's Soccer Unbeaten Streak Ends at Six

LAWTON, Okla. – A goal as time expired in the first half lifted the Oklahoma Christian Men's Soccer team to a 1-0 victory over St. Mary's University, handing the Rattlers their first loss in Lone Star Conference play this season.

The Rattlers are now 9-4-1 overall and 5-1-1 in conference play, while the Eagles remain unbeaten with a 4-0-4 mark in Lone Star Conference play and they are 8-3-4 overall.

"I'm very disappointed in us today," said Head Coach Johnny Clifford. "We played with a lack of urgency and lacked the cutting edge that was needed to win a game like that. We must have had around 70% of possession but did not do enough to deserve the win. This one really hurts, but we will dust ourselves off and get ready for another big week and look to rebound from this disappointing performance."

The Rattlers outshot the Eagles 11-to-9 in the game and placed four shots on goal – all by different players. Freshman Nichita Misac (Lisbon, Portugal) made two saves.

The loss snaps a six-game unbeaten streak for the Rattlers, while it extends the Eagles streak to nine consecutive.

St. Mary's remains on the road, playing at DBU on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Patriots defeated Lubbock Christian 2-0 on Saturday in Dallas.
