Signing Class for Women's Tennis Announced

6/3/2025 12:31:00 PM

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's University Director of Tennis Bill Macom is pleased to announce the signing class for Women's Tennis for the 2025-26 season.

The Rattlers will add four student-athletes to the roster next season, and with the graduation of only one from the 2024-25 roster, should be extremely competitive in the always tough Lone Star Conference.

"These girls are going to give us some amazing lineup depth and the ability to create stronger doubles combinations than we have been able to utilize in previous seasons," said Macom.

The signing class is made up of two transfers – both from Lone Star rival DBU - which dropped its program to the club level, and two freshmen.

Isabella Arana Rios, Sr., Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico (DBU/ Colegio Ingles/Preparatoria Abierta)
Arana Rios is coming off MVP honors at the Lone Star Conference Tournament, helping the Patriots to the title. She has been named to the Academic Honor Roll, the Dean's List, and the Lone Star Commissioner's Honor Roll. She also won the 2023 ITA South Central Doubles title and was a First-Team All-Conference pick in doubles in 2024.

Isabella Olsson, Fr., Sverige, Sweden (ProCivitas Gymnasium)
Olsson finished third at the Junior Swedish Championship in singles in 2024 in the 18-year-old bracket. She has appeared in 19 finals in the last five years and won the 2024 Karlskrona Open. She and a friend earned a certificate for a job well done after opening and running a small business as a school project.

Madalyn Smelley, Jr., Ocean Springs, Mississippi (DBU/Ocean Springs High School)
Smelley was named to the Lone Star All-Tournament team after helping the Patriots to their first-ever conference title. She also earned All-Conference honorable mention in her sophomore campaign. She has also been named to the Lone Star Commissioner's Honor Roll and is an ITA Scholar Athlete.

Sarah Wooten, Fr., Beaumont, Texas (ES American School)
At ES American, Wooten won Academic Awards in both social studies and English for highest performance. She is listed as a 3-star recruit, but Coach Macom believes she'll be 4-star by the summer. Wooten has won several L5 and L6 USTA Tournaments and comes from an athletic family as her older brother, Charlie, played baseball in college.
