•   St. Mary's Women's Tennis is one of three teams in the Lone Star Conference with a 3-1 record, tied for third in the standings. The Rattlers face a pair of nationally-ranked foes this week in No. 29 UT Tyler (5-0) and No. 24 DBU (3-1). The Lone Star Conference features seven teams ranked in the top 50 in Division II.
•   Sophomore Selina Wu jumped back up 22 spots in the national rankings to #31 in singles with her pair of wins last week. Wu is 21-6 overall, 11-1 in duals and a perfect 4-0 in LSC play this season. She ranks 3rd in the Lone Star Conference behind Jessica Binzari (#7) and Sofia Giraldo (#21) from Midwestern State. Six other players in the league rank inside the top 75.
•   The Rattlers are 5-1 all-time against UT Tyler with a 2-0 record in Tyler. A season ago, StMU won 5-2 in San Antonio. The Rattlers also hold a 19-7 advantage in the series with DBU, though the Patriots won both meetings last year, including knocking StMU out of the Lone Star Conference Tournament. StMU is 6-2 in games played at DBU.Â
•   Junior Alessia Terlizzi is the only Rattler to still be undefeated in both singles and doubles in Lone Star Conference play. She has won all four matches at #3 singles and she and partner Paula Garrote are 4-0 at #3 doubles. Sophomore Selina Wu is also 4-0 in singles.
•   Junior Stela Sifuentes won her 10th dual of the season at UT Permian Basin, bringing her career total 44, moving her into eighth on the career singles victories charts. Next on the list in seventh is Jamie Lee Denton, who was 54-21 from 2013-16.
•   Sophomore Selina Wu was named the Lone Star Conference Player of the Week on March 20th, after going unbeaten at No. 1 singles, including a 6-3, 5-7, 6-0 against #24 Ferris State. Wu teamed with Gia Posito for a pair of victories at doubles, including a 6-1 win at line two against Ferris State.
•   In the 11 victories this spring for the Rattlers, six different players have won the point that clinched the team victory. Paula Garrote now leads the team with three, while Janel Ospanova, Alessia Terlizzi and Selina Wu have won that all-important fourth team point twice, and Gia Posito and Stela Sifuentes have done so once.
