SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Baseball team kept the hot bats going from last Sunday, scoring 15 runs on 15 hits to open the series against Texas A&M International with a crooked win, 15-2.
It is the first time in 2025 the Rattlers have scored more than 10 runs in back-to-back games and stretches the home winning streak to three. The Rattlers improve to 12-7 overall and 10-7 in Lone Star Conference play, while the Dustdevils drop to 9-14 on the season and 8-13 in league games.
Sophomore
Gabe Cook (San Antonio) allowed two runs on four hits through 5 1/3 innings pitched, walking only one and striking out a career-high tying seven batters. Senior
Cameron Hodges (San Antonio) threw the final 1 2/3 innings without allowing a hit. He walked one and fanned three, needing only 29 pitches to get through six batters.
Junior
Garrett Brooks (Spring Branch, Texas) was 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run scored, while senior
Easton Parrish (La Vernia, Texas), senior
Trey Guajardo (San Juan, Texas) and senior
Jacob Elizondo (San Antonio) each added two hits. Senior
Jorge Cuevas (El Paso, Texas) was second on the team with three RBIs, and senior
Jacob King (San Antonio) and Parrish each drove in two.
Only three of the 15 hits for the Rattlers were for extra bases, as Parrish hit a double and a home run, while King also doubled. The other 12 were singles, as the Rattlers used several long rallies for the lopsided win.
The two teams return to Dickson Stadium on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. and wrap up the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
