SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to No. 18 Oklahoma Christian on Sunday afternoon, 9-6 and 6-1 at The Park at StMU.
The Rattlers (17-14, 12-8 Lone Star) outhit the Lady Eagles (19-9, 12-8) in the first game, 11-to-10, but stranded 12 runners on base in the 9-6 loss.
The team hit a season-high three home runs in the game, with one each coming from freshman
Izabella Valdez (San Antonio), sophomore
Gabriela Banda (San Antonio) and junior
Emily Ayala (San Antonio) all left the yard. Banda and Valdez each had two hits, along with junior Reagan Tennill (Corpus Christi, Texas).
Senior
Jadyn Abrego (San Antonio) fell to 1-3 after pitching one inning. She gave up five runs on five hits with one walk and one strikeout. Ayala was in the circle for the final five frames, surrendering four runs on five hits with two walks and a strikeout.
In game two, the Rattlers collected only four hits from four different players.

Madeline Bloom (Poway, Calif.) moved to 6-3 after giving up three runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Both
Breanna Ford (Corpus Christi) and
Savannah Youngblood (Kingwood, Texas) worked one inning in relief.
St. Mary's heads out on the road next week, playing at Texas A&M International on Friday and at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Sunday.
