SAN ANTONIO — In the first match in two weeks, the St. Mary's University Men's Tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to cross-town foe Our Lady of the Lake for the team's first loss of the season.
The Saints (7-1) grabbed the early momentum by winning all three doubles matches with multiple breaks of serve.
Freshman
Lincoln Baldonado (Glendale, Ariz.) tied the score with his 6-2, 6-1 victory at number five singles, and fellow freshman
Lucas Castillo Sanchez (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) gave the Rattlers (3-1) a short-lived lead with his straight-sets, 7-6 (3), 6-4 win at number four.
At number one singles, sophomore
Leonardo Fabbri (Faenza, Italy) dropped a pair of 7-5 tiebreakers in each set to tie the match at 2-2, and the Saints won the final three matches, all in three sets for their seventh win of the spring.
St. Mary's kicks off its Spring Break trip at Lamar on March 5 with an exhibition against the Cardinals at 2 p.m.
