SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Baseball team split the second day of the season at Dickson Stadium, winning game one, 14-5, before dropping game two, 6-2, against Sul Ross State.

Senior
Jacob Elizondo (San Antonio) was a perfect 5-for-5 in the first game, scoring four runs and driving in six from the leadoff position. He missed only the triple in the cycle, doubling in the first inning, homering in the second, and singling in the fourth, fifth and sixth frames.

The Rattlers scored their 14 runs on 14 hits and benefitted from one Lobos error, while Sul Ross scored five runs on eight hits. In game two, StMU scored two runs on five hits, while the Lobos plated six on eight hits and each team committed one error.

In the second game, junior
Jacob King (San Antonio) recorded two of the team's five hits, going 2-for-3, while senior
Jorge Cuevas (El Paso, Texas) cleared the left field fence in the third inning for the early 1-0 lead.

Senior
Javier De Alejandro (San Antonio) pitched 3 2/3 innings to begin game one, allowing four runs on five hits with a pair of walks and three strikeouts. Junior
Cole Brady (Nacogdoches, Texas) earned the win, pitching the final 3 1/3 innings, giving up only one run on three hits. He also walked two and fanned four on 50 pitches.

Sophomore
Gabe Cook (San Antonio) had a great outing but was hung with the loss. He worked 4 1/3 innings and didn't allow an earned run on four hits. He walked only one and struck out seven.
Brody Ticer (San Antonio),
Matt Sandoval (Uvalde, Texas),
Ryan Romine (San Antonio),
Brandon Vasquez (Round Rock, Texas), and
Braeden Brown (Sinton, Texas) all worked in relief.

The two teams complete the four-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Rattlers are 2-1 on the year, while Sul Ross State is 1-2.
