DENTON, Texas — The St. Mary's University Softball team had its opportunities on Saturday to sweep the series against Texas Woman's, but they stranded 12 runners on base in a 7-3 loss.

The Rattlers (24-18, 19-11 Lone Star Conference) doubled up the Pioneers (17-24, 15-15 Lone Star) in the hits column, 8-4, but TWU was able to plate seven and snap the Rattlers five-game winning streak.

The middle infielders accounted for four of the team's eight hits as senior
Ericka Gomez (Stafford, Texas) and junior
Lauryn Ramos (Marion, Texas) were each 2-for-4. Senior
Reba Reyes (Brownsville, Texas) drove in two runs – hitting the right-center gap in the fifth to score both.

Breanna Ford (Corpus Christi, Texas) pitched four innings in the loss. She surrendered four earned runs on three hits, walking three and striking out five to move to 6-5 on the year. Senior
Sara Robertson (Lorena, Texas) faced two batters and junior
Savannah Youngblood (Kingwood, Texas) was in the circle for the remaining two innings, retiring all six batters she faced.Â

St. Mary's remains on the road, playing at #6 UT Tyler on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Patriots swept all three in the series against St. Edward's over the weekend.
