ARLINGTON, Texas — The St. Mary's University Men's Tennis team couldn't pull off the upset over third-seeded UT Tyler in the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference Championship, falling 4-0 on Thursday afternoon.
Â
"Our record didn't reflect our level of play," said Director of Tennis
Bill Macom. "We had so many close matches and it's too bad we couldn't pull some of those out. The guys really worked hard all season and they can be proud of that."
Â
The tandem of freshman
Leonardo Fabbri (Faenza, Italy) and senior
Oskar Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia), playing together for the first time this season, made quick work of their opposition at number three doubles, winning 6-1, but the Patriots (17-5) won the other two courts for the initial point.
Â
Senior
Ryan Koth (Boerne, Texas) was locked in a battle at number three when the match was clinched by UTT. He lost the opening set, but dug deep to win set two in a tiebreaker 7-5, and the two were on serve in the third set.

The Rattlers say goodbye to seniors
Jake Faryniarz (San Antonio), Irdoja, Koth and
Nicolas Llosa (Lima, Peru) as they finish the year with a 6-10 overall record.
