One Inning Hurts Softball

TYLER, Texas — One rough inning for the St. Mary's University Softball team ended in a 10-0 loss at #4 UT Tyler on Wednesday afternoon.

The Rattlers (29-22, 24-15 Lone Star Conference) had only allowed one run on four hits through the first five innings, but the potent Patriots (43-7, 34-5 Lone Star) scored nine runs on eight hits with one StMU error in the sixth inning to run-rule the Rattlers.

Junior Lauryn Ramos (Marion, Texas) was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate, while senior Reba Reyes (Brownsville, Texas) was 2-for-3 with a double. Sophomore Raegan Tennill (Corpus Christi, Texas) and senior Mackenzie Dugi (St. Hedwig, Texas) each tallied one hit and Dugi added a stolen base.

Junior Madeline Bloom (Poway, Calif.) took the loss and fell to 5-7 on the year. She allowed three runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Both Sara Robertson (Lorena, Texas) and Savannah Youngblood (Kingwood, Texas) worked in relief.

The Rattlers remain on the road as they close out the regular season at Eastern New Mexico on Friday and Saturday.
