AUSTIN — The St. Mary's University Women's Basketball team ended the 2023-24 season on a high-note, beating rival St. Edward's in the second half of the Battle of the Saints, 68-63 on Thursday evening.

The Rattlers (6-22, 6-16 Lone Star Conference) had four players score in double figures for the second time this season, led by junior
Stina Svilberg (Tallinn, Estonia) with a career-best 18 points. Freshman
Taylor Haggan (Parker, Texas) scored 15 and blocked two shots, while freshman guard
Ramsey Robledo (San Antonio) came off the bench to chip in 13. Senior
Teanna Huggins (San Antonio) scored 11 in the final game of her collegiate career.

Senior
Ariah Powell (Detroit, Mich.), also playing the final time in the Gold and Blue, led the team with a career-high-tying eight rebounds and tied for game-high honors with four assists.

The teams went back and forth throughout the game, seeing 13 lead changes and seven ties. Neither team led by more than six points; however, the Rattlers held the Hilltoppers (9-19, 6-16 Lone Star) without a field goal over the final 5:46 of the contest to preserve the win.

The Hilltoppers were led by freshman Janiah Perkins with 20 points and four assists, while Lauren Catherman had a team-best eight rebounds.

In the annual Battle of the Saints challenge, each team earns half a point toward the team race after splitting the regular season meetings.

The game ends the career of six seniors:
Reyelle Frazier (Tacoma, Wash.), Huggins, senior
Michaela Kucera (Schwäbisch Hall, Germany), Powell,
Alexis Robinson (San Antonio) and
Natalia Ryng (Gdynia, Poland). The Rattlers end the year with six conference wins, matching the combined league totals from the last two years.
