SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Women's Soccer team couldn't overcome the aggressiveness of No. 11 DBU on Monday evening, falling 2-0 in the final regular season home game of 2024.
The Patriots (12-1-3, 9-1-2) outshot the Rattlers (8-6-3, 6-4-2) 30-to-6 on the night and found the back of the net twice, though senior goalkeeper
Rebecca Difronzo (Bari, Italy) made a season-high 10 saves.
StMU put four of its six shots on goal, with senior
Eliza Cerda (Wolfforth, Texas) recording two of them.
Prior to the game, Difronzo was presented with a commemorative ball for breaking the school's career saves record. She now has 285 with at least one game remaining in her standout career.
DBU scored in the 19th and 50th minutes, with both goals coming from McKenna Vela.
The Rattlers travel to Odessa to face UT Permian Basin on Thursday at 6 p.m. to wrap up Lone Star Conference play. The Falcons are at Eastern New Mexico later on Monday evening.
