Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Falls to No. 12 ThunderWolves

SAN ANTONIO – No. 12 Colorado State-Pueblo scored two goals in the first period and the No. 3 St. Mary's University Men's Soccer team couldn't overcome the extremely physical game, falling 2-0 Thursday night at Sigma Beta Chi Field.

The Rattlers (2-1-0) had three shots on goal in the game, but the ThunderWolves remained aggressive throughout the match, outshooting StMU 13-5. There were also eight yellow cards and 21 fouls called throughout.

The ThunderWolves improve to 2-0-1 on the season and win their second-straight match at Sigma Beta Chi after knocking the Rattlers out of the NCAA a season ago in the Round of 16.

StMU had an early opportunity to get on the scoreboard first on a shot on goal by junior Rhys Williams (Berkshire, England) in the third minute, but Tristan Whitlock was able to make the save. Senior Juan Jose Lopez Valdez (Asuncion, Paraguay) and freshman Gael Gallegos (Laredo, Texas) also tallied shots on goal.

The Rattlers remain at home, hosting UCCS on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Mountain Lions defeated St. Edward's 1-0 earlier on Thursday.
