RICHARDSON, Texas – St. Mary's University Men's Soccer player
Cian Foley was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the season's opening week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Foley, a graduate student from Wexford, Ireland, scored all three goals for the ninth-ranked Rattlers in a pair of clean-sheet victories over conference foes UT-Tyler and West Texas A&M on the opening weekend. On Thursday, Foley scored from 18 yards out in the 79th minute for the lone goal of the match. On Saturday, Foley took a penalty kick in the 10th minute against WT that found the bottom right corner of the goal and in the 71st minute he blasted his second game-winner of the year from the restraining arc on a deflected pass.
This is the first weekly award for Foley in his fifth season with the Rattlers.Â
