Box Score SAN ANTONIO — After a pair of draws against UT-Tyler a season ago, the ninth-ranked St. Mary's University Men's Soccer team knew the 2023 season opener would be a difficult match, and it proved to be the case as the Rattlers scored late for the 1-0 victory on Thursday evening.
In the 79th minute, senior Cian Foley (Wexford, Ireland) found the bottom left of the goal from the top of the penalty box for the lone goal of the evening. It is the fifth game-winner of Foley's career and his 11th career goal.
Sophomore Johnny Thurbin (Lingfield, Surrey, England) started the second game of his career in goal and made six saves, doubling his career-high of three from last season at Lubbock Christian (Oct. 22).
The Rattlers face another Lone Star Conference foe in a non-conference matchup, hosting West Texas A&M on Saturday at 5 p.m.Â
