BROWNSVILLE, Texas – For the third-straight season, the St. Mary's Men's Soccer team played an exhibition against UT Rio Grande Valley on a neutral pitch in Brownsville and on Saturday evening, the Rattlers dropped a close 2-1 decision to the Vaqueros.
Â
UTRGV took a 1-0 lead, but the Rattlers answered as senior
Cian Foley (Wexford, Ireland) sent a strike into the top corner from outside the box on a pass from fellow senior
Josua Hall (Baiersbronn, Baden Wuerttemberg, Germany).
Â
The Vaqueros scored late for the 2-1 win.
Â
The team returns home for the final exhibition, hosting Concordia (TX) at 7:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the Women's Soccer team. The Rattlers open the regular season on Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. against UT Tyler in a non-conference tilt. That match is also a doubleheader with the women's team.
