SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's Softball team split a rescheduled doubleheader with cross town opponent Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday, winning 8-0 in five innings in the first game before dropping a 4-2 decision in the nightcap.

Ericka Gomez (Stafford, Texas) was the lone Rattler (14-5) to record hits in both games, going 3-for-5 on the day with a run scored. Junior
Mackenzie Dugi (St. Hedwig, Texas) and freshman
Madison Guerrero (Castroville, Texas) both reached base in each game.

The Rattlers return to Lone Star Conference play on Friday, hosting Western New Mexico on Friday and Saturday. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

GAME ONE RECAP
Sophomore hurler
Jadyn Abrego (San Antonio) allowed only one hit in four innings, while junior
Sara Robertson (Lorena, Texas) worked a three-up, three-down inning in the fifth for her first save of the year as the Rattlers offense exploded for seven runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Jamison Holder (Magnolia, Texas) went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while junior
Reba Reyes (Brownsville, Texas), sophomore
Lauryn Ramos (Marion, Texas) and freshman
Emily Ayala (San Antonio) all posted two RBI.

In the bottom of the first, Dugi walked, stole second, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a single to left by Holder for the 1-0 lead.

The score held until the bottom of the fifth. Guerrero led off with a double to left center and junior
Lauren Gonzales (San Antonio) walked. Reyes doubled to left center to plate both. Holder singled down the left field line and hustled to second when the throw attempted to get Reyes at the plate. After the Saints went to the bullpen, sophomore
Kaylynne Ruiz (Eagle Pass, Texas) grounded out, but advanced
Abigail Dela Rosa (LaGrange, Texas), who was running for Holder. Senior
Lauren Garcia (San Antonio) walked and Ramos doubled down the right field line to drive in two. Gomez singled to short and Guerrero drew a four pitch walk to load the bases. Ayala drilled a ball to the wall in left center for a pair of RBI and the walkoff win.Â

Senior pitcher
Catalina Cavazos (Houston) worked three innings, allowing an unearned run on one hit with four strikeouts in a no decision. Sophomore
Madeline Bloom (Poway, Calif.) fell to 3-2 in the loss after she gave up two runs on three hits. Robertson worked 3.2 innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits.

Garcia and Gomez each posted two hits as the team scored two runs on six hits.

Each team scored one unearned run in the first and the Saints took a 3-1 lead in the fourth with two runs on three hits.Â

After OLLU scored one in the top of the fifth, the Rattlers offense responded. With one out, Ruiz was hit by a pitch and Dela Rosa entered to run. Garcia hit the gap in right-centerfield to score the second run of the game as the scoreboard read 4-2. No runs were scored by either team in the final two frames.
