SAN ANTONIO – If you left the park or turned off the stream after the first inning where UAFS scored eight runs, you missed a ton of offense as the St. Mary's Baseball team clawed back, took a lead and hung on for the 16-14 victory on Sunday to split the series.
Â
The two teams combined for 30 runs on 24 hits with eight errors, 16 walks and four batters were hit by a pitch on getaway day. All four games in the series were decided by one or two runs.

The Lions (5-5, 3-5 Lone Star) scored eight runs on two hits with two Rattler errors in the first inning. St. Mary's answered with one in the first, six in the second and four in the third to take the 11-8 lead. UAFS plated one in the sixth, but the Rattlers responded with three in the seventh and two in the eighth to stretch the lead to 16-9. The Lions tried to pull off the third last inning comeback in the series, but fell just short, scoring five runs. Bright finished the game with a strikeout for the exclamation point on the contest.
Â
UAFS used seven pitchers in the game. Brayden Ross was on the hill when the Rattlers scored their ninth run to move to 0-2 on the young season.
