Women's Basketball Wins Exhibition at UTRGV

EDINBURG, Texas – St. Mary's University Women's Basketball did a great job of working the ball inside in an exhibition victory over UTRGV on Saturday afternoon, winning 70-64.
 
The win is the second in as many years for the Rattlers over a Division I foe. StMU opens the regular season on Nov. 10 at Colorado School of Mines as part of the South Central Regional Crossover in Golden, Colo.
 
On Saturday afternoon, freshman forward Taylor Haggan (Parker, Texas) led the team with 17 points, while both senior Teanna Huggins (San Antonio) and junior Sheridan Kavanagh (Melbourne, Australia) added 12 points each. Kavanagh also led the team with six rebounds and she and senior Natalia Ryng (Gdynia, Poland) collected four assists as the Rattlers managed 18 assists on 30 made baskets.
 
Ryng also paced the team with a game-high four steals and Huggins had both blocks in the six-point win.
