Men's Soccer to End Regular Season with Tough Test

Wednesday, November 1 • Wichita Falls • Stang Park • Regular Season Finale
*#RV St. Mary's (8-3-6, 2-1-5) at #2 Midwestern State (16-0-1, 8-0) • 7 p.m.

Ending On the Road: The St. Mary's Men's Soccer team plays at No. 2 Midwestern State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to wrap up the regular season. The Mustangs have already clinched the conference title and will host the Conference Tournament.

In the Hunt: St. Mary's is still playing for seeding into the tournament. If the current standings hold, the Rattlers will be the three-seed and host a first-round game on Nov. 4. The Rattlers could finish anywhere from second to sixth in the standings.

Series History: Wednesday will be the second meeting this year between Midwestern State and St. Mary's. The Mustangs won 2-1 back on Sept. 20 to extend their lead in the series to 35-6-0. Five of the six Rattlers wins have occurred since 2019.

Brace for Impact: Senior Santiago Nunez became the fourth different player this season to score two goals in a match with a pair against Texas A&M International on Saturday.  He joins Alexander Carey, Cian Foley and Gael Gallegos with multiple scores in a contest.

Taking the P.K.: Senior Cian Foley is one of four players in the nation who is a perfect 5-for-5 in penalty kicks this season. Foley added his fifth PK in the home finale victory over Texas A&M International.

Early Start: St. Mary's is 7-0-2 when scoring first this season and 1-3-4 when the opponent finds the back of the net first.

Making His Mark: Senior Cian Foley moved into sole possession of fourth place on the St. Mary's single-season charts with his fourth game-winner against Oklahoma Christian. Foley is second in the league lead and 10th in the nation. Foley also moved into second in St. Mary's career history with eight game-winners, taking the spot from Jack Wolf (2012-15) who kicked seven in his stellar career.

Closing In: Head Coach Johnny Clifford won his 64th career game against Texas A&M International and is only one victory away from tying the wins record at St. Mary's. Dave Stolarski won 65 contests from 1974-81.

Double Digit Helpers: Fourteen different players have recorded an assist this season and Avery Estell (2), Cian Foley (6), Gael Gallegos (2). Lewis Nohar (3) and Juan Jose Valdez Lopez (2) each have multiple assists.

Keeping It Clean: The Rattlers lead the Lone Star Conference and rank second in the nation in fewest fouls per game at 6.53. Shaw leads the nation with only 4.81 fouls. Midwestern State (4th, 7.88) and DBU (7th, 8.19) both rank in the top 10 as well.
