Series History: Wednesday will be the second meeting this year between UT Tyler and St. Mary's. The Rattlers won a 1-0 decision in the season opener for both teams to improve to 5-2-2 in the all-time series. The Rattlers are 13-18-4 all-time against Saturday's opponent, Texas A&M International. StMU is unbeaten in its last five meetings against the Dustdevils, with a 3-0-2 mark.
Goals for Gael: Freshman Gael Gallegos scored his fifth goal of the season with 36 seconds remaining at DBU for the 1-1 draw. It is the most goals by a freshman since Edu Toiny-Pendred scored nine in the historic 2019 season.
Making His Mark: Senior Cian Foley moved into sole possession of fourth place on the St. Mary's single-season charts with his fourth game-winner against Oklahoma Christian. Foley is second in the league lead and ninth in the nation. Foley also moved into second in St. Mary's career history with eight game-winners, taking the spot from Jack Wolf (2012-15) who kicked seven in his stellar career.
Early Start: St. Mary's is 6-0-2 when scoring first this season and 1-3-3 when the opponent finds the back of the net first.
Double Digit Helpers: Eleven different players have recorded an assist this season and Avery Estell (2), Cian Foley (6), Gael Gallegos (2) and Juan Jose Valdez Lopez (2) each have multiple assists.
Double Trouble: St. Mary's has doubled up the opposition in scoring during the second half of games this season, scoring 14 while holding opponents to seven. Both StMU and opponents have totaled 10 goals in the first half.
Closing In: Head Coach Johnny Clifford won his 63rd career game against Oklahoma Christian to move into second all-time and is only two victories away from tying the wins record at St. Mary's. Dave Stolarski won 65 contests from 1974-81, while Que Willis was second with 62 wins (2003-13).
Keeping It Clean: The Rattlers lead the Lone Star Conference and rank third in the nation in fewest fouls per game at 6.73. Shaw leads the nation with only 4.93 fouls.
