Men's Soccer Heads to Colorado For Two

North For A Pair: St. Mary's takes on its second-straight ranked team, playing at #25 Colorado State-Pueblo on Wednesday before taking on UC-Colorado Springs on Friday afternoon. The Thunderwolves are 3-1 on the year, while the Mountain Lions are 2-1-1 and host Lubbock Christian before the Rattlers.

The Greene Light: Sophomore Bradley Greene was named the Lone Star Conference's First Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Rattlers to a 1-1 draw at #17 West Texas A&M on August 25. Greene played all 90 minutes in a StMU back line that surrendered just one goal on 20 shot attempts and also buried the game-tying goal from 25 yards in the 52nd minute to secure draw.

History: The Rattlers are looking for their first-ever win against CSU-Pueblo and are 0-3-1 all-time in the series. The two teams have not played since 2007, a 1-0 win for the Thunderwolves. St. Mary's is 3-2-1 all-time against the Mountain Lions of UCCS. Back in 2019, the Rattlers dropped a 1-0 decision in Colorado Springs.

Preseason Poll: The Rattlers were chosen to finish third in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll. StMU received three first place votes and 199 points, trailing only Midwestern State (245) and West Texas A&M (230) in the 10-team league.

Saving The Day: Junior goalkeeper Andre Schlaefli currently ranks second in the Lone Star Conference with an .875 saves percentage and leads the league with 7.00 saves per game.

Melting Pot: On the 2022 roster, there are players hailing from 13 different countries and within the United States, three states are represented. The club has multiple players from the US (12), England (3), Scotland (3), Brazil (2), Ireland (2) and Paraguay (2) and has one player from Colombia, Germany, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, United Arab Emirates and Uruguay.

A Gentleman & A Scholar: Fifth-year senior Deni Cresto was named the Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in the Lone Star Conference for St. Mary's in 2022. Cresto has played 48 games, starting 46 over the last three seasons for the Rattlers and he is a perfect 4-for-4 in penalty kicks. He is working on his master's degree in exercise & sport science and was a selection to the LSC All-Tournament team a season ago.

Players to Watch: Sophomore midfielder Andrick Ferrer, junior goalkeeper Andre Schlaefli and senior defender Lewis Wilson were all named to the inaugural Lone Star Conference Players to Watch List.
