SAN ANTONIO – He may not have had many opportunities this season with the defensive line in front of him, but St. Mary's junior goalkeeper
Andre Schlaefli made the most of his opportunities in preserving a 3-0 win for the Men's Soccer team on Wednesday night.
Schlaefli, from Katy, Texas, made a spectacular save with the score 2-0 to keep the clean sheet for the Rattlers (4-0-4). Schlaefli made three saves on the night – all in the second half – as the Falcons (1-2-2) had 11 shots overall.
Senior
Deni Cresto (Curitiba, Parana, Brazil) scored the first goal of the night on a penalty kick in the eighth minute.
Sophomore
Bradley Greene (Essex, England) found a streaking
Josua Hall (Baiersbronn, Baden Wuerttemberg, Germany) down the left side of the pitch for the second goal in the 25th minute.
In the 78th minute, senior
Lewis Wilson (Aberdeen, Scotland) scored his second goal of the year on a header, taking the
Sebastian Rivera (Laredo, Texas) free kick from just inside midfield. Wilson headed the ball right over the top of the outstretched goalie for the 3-0 victory.
The Rattlers begin Lone Star Conference play on Saturday, hosting Eastern New Mexico at 7 p.m. The Greyhounds are 3-2-1 on the year and haven't played since Sept. 13.
