Women's Soccer Falls to #25 Angelo State

SAN ANGELO, Texas – In a physical game that saw 21 fouls, the St. Mary's Women's Soccer Team dropped a close 1-0 decision at #25 Angelo State on Wednesday night.
 
The Rambelles (8-0-1, 3-0 Lone Star) scored in the 13th minute and then the Rattlers (7-2, 1-2 Lone Star) defense shut them down the remainder of the night, as sophomore goalkeeper Rebecca Difronzo (Bari, Italy) made eight saves.
 
The two teams combined for 37 shots, 22 by ASU and 15 by the Rattlers. StMU had a balanced attack with seven shots in the first half and eight in the second stanza. Sophomore Eliza Merrion (Park City, Utah), senior Jackie Miller (El Paso, Texas), freshman Sydney Varela (El Paso) and senior Kylie Von Holle (Midland, Texas) each had a shot on goal.
 
St. Mary's returns home to host Texas Woman's on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Pioneers lost 1-0 to Eastern New Mexico in Denton earlier on Wednesday.
