SAN ANGELO, Texas – The St. Mary's Softball team held a lead in both games, but 10th-ranked Angelo State was able to score late in both games of the doubleheaders for the sweep.
 
The Rattlers (33-16, 17-11 Lone Star Conference) concluded a 10-game stretch against five teams ranked in the top-15 in the nation on Saturday with the 4-1 and 3-2 losses at Angelo State. The team concludes the regular season at rival, St. Edward's on Saturday, April 30 before heading to the Lone Star Conference Championship on May 5-7.
 
The Gold & Blue scored three runs on 10 singles with six walks during the twinbill. The Rambelles tallied seven runs on 12 hits with two walks and two hit batters. 
 
Both seniors 
Tiffany Licon (Austin, Texas) and 
Victoria Aldridge (Elgin, Texas) had two hits on the afternoon and senior 
Bari Christian (San Antonio) recorded two of the club's three RBIs. Senior 
Jayme Johns (Elgin) swiped the only bag of the day and freshman 
Lauryn Ramos (Marion, Texas) drew a pair of walks.
 
Freshman 
Jadyn Abrego (San Antonio) pitched a complete game in the opener, allowing four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and no walks on 106 pitches. She also faced one batter in the second game, committing an error on a comebacker that allowed the winning run to cross the plate.
 
Junior 
Catalina Cavazos (Houston) surrendered two runs on four hits with one walk and one strikeout in 4.2 innings of work to start the second game. Sophomore 
Sara Robertson (Lorena, Texas) pitched the next 1.2 frames, taking the loss (0-1) after allowing one unearned run on one hit with a walk.
 
The Rattlers currently sit in seventh-place in the league standings and the top 10 teams advance to the single-elimination Championship which will be played at the site of the regular season champion, which is yet to be determined.
