SAN ANTONIO – For the second-straight match, the St. Mary's Men's Tennis team kept an opponent off the scoreboard, winning 7-0 on Saturday afternoon against St. Thomas.

The Rattlers won their fourth-straight match to open the season, dropping only 10 games in singles play and six in doubles action for the sweep.

Nicolas Llosa (Lima, Peru) and freshman
Niklas Knoerr (Tübingen, German) won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore
Jake Faryniarz (San Antonio) and senior
Pablo Munoz Baroja (San Sebastian, Spain) dropped only one game at No. 2 doubles. Freshman
Alvaro Soler (Alicante, Spain) teamed up with sophomore
Oskar Irdoja (Talinn, Estonia) for a 6-2 victory at the third spot.

Irdoja shut out his opponent at No. 4 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0, while Llosa and Soler lost only one game each at the fifth and sixth ladder positions, respectively.Â

At No. 1 singles, senior
Chad Nguyen (College Station, Texas) won by identical set scores of 6-1, Faryniarz was victorious 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 and Knoerr won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 for the win.

Next week, the Rattlers embark on their first of two long road trips, playing both Christian Brothers and Tennessee Southern on Friday in Southaven, Miss., before taking on Rhodes and Shorter on Saturday in Mephis, Tenn. The Rattlers who aren't on the trip will host Hardin-Simmons at 1 p.m. at Rohrbach Stadium.
