DALLAS, Texas – The run for the St. Mary's Women's Soccer team ended in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon at the hands of the nation's top-ranked team in DBU, 4-0.
Â
The semifinal game in the Lone Star Conference Tournament was delayed a day due to inclement weather.Â
Â
On Saturday, freshman
Sydney Varela (El Paso, Texas) managed the team's only shot on goal, though the Rattlers had 12 shots in the contest.
Â
DBU (15-1-1) took the lead in the 21st minute and never looked back, scoring two goals in each half to advance to the championship.
Â
The Rattlers (12-4-4) lost only their second road game of the season and are hoping to be rewarded for that with an at-large bid to the NCAA Regionals. The committee will announce the selections on Monday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. (Central). StMU was ranked sixth in the latest regional rankings.
