Women's Soccer Falters in LSC Semifinals

DALLAS, Texas – The run for the St. Mary's Women's Soccer team ended in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon at the hands of the nation's top-ranked team in DBU, 4-0.

The semifinal game in the Lone Star Conference Tournament was delayed a day due to inclement weather.

On Saturday, freshman Sydney Varela (El Paso, Texas) managed the team's only shot on goal, though the Rattlers had 12 shots in the contest.

DBU (15-1-1) took the lead in the 21st minute and never looked back, scoring two goals in each half to advance to the championship.

The Rattlers (12-4-4) lost only their second road game of the season and are hoping to be rewarded for that with an at-large bid to the NCAA Regionals. The committee will announce the selections on Monday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. (Central). StMU was ranked sixth in the latest regional rankings.
