Lopsided Victory for Men's Basketball Gives Zeleznak Win #250

SAN ANTONIO – In one of the most lopsided series in school history, the St. Mary's Men's Basketball team added its 56th win in 57 tries over Huston-Tillotson on Saturday afternoon, winning 103-59 for the 250th victory of Head Coach Jim Zeleznak's career.
 
The Rattlers (1-2) used a balanced scoring attack as all 13 players who saw action in the game scored at least two points. Both senior Emmanuel Ewuzie (San Antonio) and senior Edward Manuel (Lake Charles, La.) posted double-doubles on the day. Ewuzie led the team with 16 points and 14 rebounds -- both career-highs, while Manuel came off the bench to score 12 and grab 11 boards.
 
Senior Mamady Djikine (Paris, France) added 14 points and senior Caleb Jordan (Midlothian, Texas) chipped in 11. Sophomore Diego Gonzalez (Arecibo, Puerto Rico) led all players with six assists and five steals, while senior Ryan Leonard (Kerry, Ireland) added five assists and two blocked shots.
 
Despite having 19 turnovers, the Rattlers shot over 50 percent from the field for the game, making 36-of-70 (.514) and the team shot .833 from the free throw line, sinking 20-of-24, including an 8-for-10 performance from Ewuzie.
 
Senior Jaron Presley (Katy, Texas) sank the 50th three-pointer of his career with his first of two in the game as he ended with six points and three rebounds.
 
The Rattlers have a break from play until December 1 when they begin Lone Star Conference action against Western New Mexico at 7:30 p.m.
