SAN ANTONIO – A scoreless draw on Senior Day Saturday afternoon will send the St. Mary's Women's Soccer Team to Lubbock for the Quarterfinals of the Lone Star Tournament, where they will face the same opponent as the regular season finale in Lubbock Christian.
The Rattlers (11-3-4, 5-3-4 LSC) and Lady Chaps (8-2-8, 5-2-5 LSC) paired for 17 shots on the day and each team had one shot on goal.
The two teams spent a lot of time along the sidelines as they combined for 110 throw-ins during the 90 minutes. The Gold & Blue did manage three shots in the first seven minutes, but neither team found the back of the net.
Prior to the start of the match, the Rattlers honored seniors
Jackie Miller (El Paso, Texas) and
Alexis Garcia (West Covina, Calif.) for their efforts with the team. Senior captains
Megan Copeland (San Antonio) and
Kylie Von Holle (Midland, Texas) also played the final home games of their careers, but chose not to be honored after going through the senior day ceremonies a year ago prior to electing to return for their fifth year.
The two teams will turn around and face each other on Tuesday, Nov. 1 in Lubbock. Game time and ticket information will be announced soon.
