Women's Soccer Draws at West Texas A&M

CANYON, Texas – A 1-1 draw at West Texas A&M on Saturday kept the St. Mary's Women's Soccer in the thick of things in the Lone Star Conference standings with one week remaining in the regular season.

The Rattlers (10-3-3, 4-3-3 LSC) currently have 15 points in league action and are tied with St. Edward's and Lubbock Christian for fourth place. StMU fell to SEU earlier this season and hosts LCU on Saturday.

Sophomore goalkeeper Rebecca Difronzo (Bari, Italy) made five saves, the second-highest total she's had this season.

Senior Juni Ejere (Weatherford, Texas) scored her team-leading ninth goal of the year, finding the back of the net in the 58th minute on an assist from sophomore Barbara Smith (Las Cruces, N.M.).

In the 84th minute a kick by the Lady Buffs Emily Avila went right over the outstretched hands of Difronzo to knot the score at 1-1 and neither team allowed a score in the final six minutes.

In a late schedule change, the Rattlers will visit UT Tyler on Tuesday at 5 p.m. instead of the originally posted Wednesday. They close out the regular season on Saturday hosting the Lady Chaps at 5 p.m.
