Men's Soccer Ends In Scoreless Draw

SAN ANTONIO – For the second time this season, the St. Mary's and West Texas A&M Men's Soccer teams ended in a draw.

On Wednesday night, neither team found the back of the net, ending in a scoreless tie after the squads opened the season with a 1-1 draw.

Junior goalkeeper Andre Schlaefli (Katy, Texas) made three saves, and senior Cian Foley (Wexford, Ireland) had a great look at the goal as time expired, but the Buffs (3-2-7, 1-0-3 Lone Star) keeper made his sixth save of the night to preserve the draw.

The Rattlers (7-0-5, 3-0-1 LSC) took 16 shots, compared to just five for the Buffs and limited WT to one corner kick, while collecting five of their own.

Five Rattlers played all 90 minutes, including three of the four on the back line. The shutout is the ninth of the year for the defense.

St. Mary's faces another tough test, traveling to Oklahoma Christian on Saturday for a 5:30 p.m. first kick.
