SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's Men's Basketball team led from wire to wire against visiting Western New Mexico, winning 86-70 to post its fourth straight victory.

Tyler Caron (Longview, Texas) scored a career-high 28 points on an amazing 10-of-11 shooting from the field with four three-pointers. Senior
Mamady Djikine (Paris, France) added his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Kobe Magee (San Antonio) added 11 points, a game-high six assists and six rebounds, while senior
Caleb Jordan (Midlothian, Texas) tallied 10 points and six rebounds. Junior
Emmanuel Ewuzie (San Antonio) came off the bench to grab seven rebounds as the Rattlers (7-7, 4-1 Lone Star Conference) out-rebounded the Mustangs (9-7, 2-4 LSC).

The Gold and Blue took advantage of their opportunities at the free throw line, sinking 19-of-24 for 79.2 percent.

The Mustangs were led by Tony Avalos who scored 16 and was 10-of-12 from the free throw line, as he drew nine fouls. Both Dylan Arnette and Josiah Turner came off the bench to grab five rebounds each and Amarion Cash had a team-high three assists.

St. Mary's has one day off from competition before returning to Bill Greehey Arena on Monday at 4 against Cameron and Tuesday at 2 against West Texas A&M. Both are rescheduled games from earlier in the season.

INDIVIDUAL PLAYER & TEAM NOTES
- At halftime, the Rattlers honored long-time scorebook keeper Aurelio Ramirez. He began keeping the book for StMU in 1965.
- Sophomore Tyler Caron scored a career-high 28 points on 10-of-11 shooting. His previous high was 23 at Oklahoma Christian in the last weekend of the 2021 season.
- Mamady Djikine posted his first double-double of the year with 14 points and 10 rebounds. It is the sixth of his StMU career and he's now scored in double figures in seven consecutive games.
- The four consecutive Lone Star wins are the longest streak in conference play for the Rattlers since the 2014-15 season when they won the final five and proceeded to win the Heartland Conference Tournament.
- The 28 points by Tyler Caron and the 10 field goals he sank are both season-highs for the Rattlers. Kobe Magee also drained 10 in the team's second game of the year against Regis.
